Founded in the 1970s, the Barron Collier Jr. Foundation makes grants available for education, children’s healthcare, environmental causes, and local charities. Who was Barron Collier Jr.
Barron Gift Collier’s first-born son, Barron Gift Collier Jr., was committed to giving back to the communities in which he lived and did business. A well-respected real estate developer and newspaper publisher in Southwest Florida, he continued the business of his father, serving as president and board chairman of the Collier Development Corporation and chairman of the Collier County Publishing Company, publisher of The Naples News. After serving in World War II, Barron Gift Collier Jr. returned to the Naples area and built the first school in Immokalee, Florida and soon became vice president of the Collier Corporation in New York. Through his passion for community success, Barron Collier Companies’ founding of the Barron Collier Jr. Foundation would continue this changemaker’s vision for a better Collier County.
